Big Caskets And Dead Bodybuilders!
"I'll probably die in a gym."
Do you remember the old saying; "You can't take it with you?" I remember it well! I remember explaining to my dad one of the reasons I had such a passion for bodybuilding. I explained that when I died, I would not be able to take anything with me...fancy cars, a big house, money, nice clothes - none of it! I would not be taking any of that material stuff with me when I died, so I was going to focus on the one thing that I would be taking with me - my body! As I think back to those days when I first got into bodybuilding, I remember an ad that I would see in the bodybuilding magazines. It was an offer for a t-shirt that had the words "Bury Me Massive" printed on it. Speaking of t-shirt sayings, how many of these do you recognize:
- "Think
Big" Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit,
after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after
Christ. That "Bury Me Massive" t-shirt had an impact on my thinking. Although I never bought the t-shirt, just seeing it advertised in the bodybuilding magazines planted a seed and shaped my thoughts regarding my life and goals. I thought that putting all of my life efforts into building my body was the logical thing to do. After all, my body really was the only thing I would take to the grave. I never once considered the consequences of such a lifestyle. Think about this for a minute: For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. - Galatians 6:8 (KJV) The bottom line is this: When you die, will you have lived a life having sown to your flesh or to your spirit? When you die, will you be ready for what happens next? And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the
judgment: When you die will you be ready to be judged? For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret
thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that
everyone may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath
done, whether it be good or bad. You can be ready for judgment day by asking for God's forgiveness now. Would you like to have God's forgiveness? Would you like Jesus Christ to come into your life and make you a new person? Please accept the invitation to receive Christ as your Lord and Savior today.
